TOUR GETS GLOWING REPORT!

2011 VAQAS assessment

'Official' stamp and Vaqas emblemWe passed our recent assessment with flying colours for the award of VisitEngland's accreditation of 'Quality Assured Visitor Attraction'.

"City Sightseeing Bristol provides a very good tour of the city and its boundaries which combines to deliver a memorable visitor experience as well as familiarising the visitor fully with the layout and history of the city, its key features and characters. The guides on the buses were the highlight of the tours, their knowledge and enthusiasm for the City was infectious, the combination of amusing anecdotes and easily digested historical facts made for a most enjoyable visit."

CITY SIGHTSEEING BRISTOL

Meet the team

staff and bus The owner Warwick Hulme has been involved in the public transport business for over thirty years, and in 1975 oversaw the setting-up of the original Bristol open-top bus tour, run by the Bristol Omnibus Company. In 1993 Warwick started his own tour as an independent concern, and seven years later in 2000 he joined forces with the City Sightseeing organisation, the world's largest open-top tour company, operating the City Sightseeing Bristol tour as an independent company. He is now into his second decade operating the City Sightseeing Bristol tour, and can also be seen driving the bus from time to time!

"We have 40 trained guides to show you the sights of Bristol"

We have over forty trained guides to show you the sights of Bristol with new ones joining annually, each with his or her own highly individual and entertaining style of presenting the city's history. Our drivers Ian, Bob, Ken, Ted, Terry, Mike, and Larry have been selected as much for their friendly manner – they even say "Hello" when you board! – as for their vast experience of driving in Bristol (no easy task). Our pavement representative is Beryl, your first port of call for information and advice about the tour.

And for those anoraks among you: our main buses are an 'E' reg ex-Edinburgh Leyland, a 'P' reg ex-Dublin Volvo, and a 'T' reg ex-London half-top low-floor Dennis. Also, we have a 1956 29-seat Albion Nimbus (ex-Devon General, and recently fully restored) which is available for weddings, special events, and corporate hire.

IN PRAISE OF ... Warwick Hulme (Managing Director, City Sightseeing Bristol)

from the Bristol Evening Post

"He is a great ambassador for Bristol, and one of our unsung tourism heroes. He is someone who spends his time highlighting the good points of our city and giving visitors an insight into what makes Bristol special. When he launched his City Sightseeing Bristol open-top bus tours, few would have expected them to be such a success. He remains as enthusiastic about Bristol now as the day he first ventured out on a guided tour. In delivering a positive message about our city, he is worth his weight in gold."
